Lahontan cutthroat trout are native to the Lahontan Basin, which covers northern Nevada, California’s Eastern Sierra and southeastern Oregon. This heritage trout is found in alpine and desert lakes, rivers and streams across the basin. They are the largest species of cutthroat trout and once inhabited 12 lake systems and more than 7,000 miles of rivers and streams.
